LPG can be utilized in various applications in the railway industry.  Most notable are in the application of heating railway switches and in heating the rail tracks during installation.

Particularly in the winter, keeping the railroad switches fully functional is necessary for safety of both train passengers and personnel operating the railway lines.  Effective protection of railway  switches against adverse weather conditions, greatly reduces accident rates, improves the efficiency of rail traffic and prevens the obstruction of the switches by snow and ice.
